Shawn Stüssy, a surfboard shaper working at Laguna Beach California, did not only sign the surfboards he shaped. Because people liked his marker pen signature he started signing shirts and other clothes. As a result of this Shawn also started to design streetwear clothing himself all being branded with his 'tag'.
